6 sectors will expand in Indore, government is preparing: Investment will increase in IT, textile, pharma, auto, logistics and real estate; new employment opportunities will be available

6 sectors will expand in Indore, government is preparing

Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) is preparing to take Indore to the next level in six sectors. These six sectors of Indore will be promoted in the Global Investors Summit to be held in Bhopal. In this regard, the government is also discussing with the industrialists of the related industries.

MPIDC MD Rajesh Rathore said that preparations are being made to take the existing IT, textile, auto, pharma, logistics and real estate sectors in Indore to the next level.

Indore is continuously developing, but the government is fully focused on developing it even faster. Recently, during his visit to Japan, the Chief Minister had discussed with the top officials of the company about Toyota's investment in Pithampur.

IT & Fintech Hub

  • The exports of Indore's IT sector alone are currently worth more than Rs 18,000 crore.
  • More than 300 medium and small IT/BPO companies including TCS, Infosys, Yash, Infobins, Impetus, TaskUs, Telemart are operating in Indore.
  • More than 1,000 IT startups are also operating in Indore.
  • The government's aim is that big IT companies like Microsoft, Google, IBM should open their big centres in Indore.
  • Headquarters of big fintech companies should be established in Indore.
  • Research and development companies of AI and machine learning should be brought to Indore.
  • The government is constructing IT Park-3 at a cost of Rs 501 crore and IT Park-4 at a cost of Rs 47 crore.
  • IT Park-3 will be completed by December 2025, providing employment to 15,000 people.
  • IT Park-4 will be completed by January 2026, providing employment to 4,000 people.
  • There are plans to develop an IT and Fintech zone on 400 hectares of land near Indore city.

Textile and garment hub

  • There are 20 big companies in Indore like Pratibha Syntex, Maraal Overseas, Kohinoor Elastic, Mahima, Bio-Spun.
  • More than 300 small companies are operating in the readymade garment complex and other clusters.
  • The government is planning to create garmenting clusters like Bengaluru and Coimbatore and a textile manufacturing zone like Bhilwara.
  • PM Mitra Park is being developed at a cost of Rs 1,575 crore, which will bring an investment of Rs 15,000 crore and provide employment to 1 lakh people.
  • The Plug and Play Park is being developed at a cost of Rs 167 crore, which will be completed by December 2026 and will provide employment to 12,000 people.

Pharma & Healthcare Hub

  • There are more than 50 pharmaceutical companies in Indore including Cipla, Moylan, Ajanta Pharma, Par Pharma, Symbiotec.
  • Preparations are being made to build a medical devices park in Ujjain.
  • The government is planning to make Indore a hub for bulk drug and API manufacturing.
  • During the Investor Summit held two years ago, former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had announced that four pharma parks of 600 acres each would be developed, in which 30 companies each would be able to do business.
  • Efforts are being made to establish R&D companies in the state on the lines of Hyderabad.

Real estate and infrastructure

  • Indore's real estate and infrastructure market is the largest in the state.
  • Godrej company has invested Rs 400 crore in early 2024.
  • Multi-storey startup parks and multi-storey business parks are being built.
  • The government is preparing to develop big commercial complexes.
  • There is a plan to build a cyber city on the lines of Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
  • Major infrastructure projects are being prepared on the Super Corridor and Economic Corridor of Indore.

Logistics Hub

  • Indore's logistics business is worth more than Rs 100 crore per day.
  • The government plans to build Central India's largest logistics hub with a railway terminal, container yard and cold storage.
  • A multi-modal logistics park is being constructed at a cost of Rs 1,100 crore.
  • The work of Indore-Manmad railway line is going on at a fast pace, which is being monitored by PMO.

Automobile & EV Hub

  • Indore has more than 500 automobile companies including Volvo, Eicher, Force Motors, Pinnacle Mobility, New Holland, Mahindra & Mahindra, Cummins.
  • More than 3 lakh vehicles are manufactured annually, which include cars, buses, trucks, two-wheelers and commercial vehicles.
  • The government aims that major two-wheeler and four-wheeler manufacturing companies should start their plants in Indore.
  • There is a plan to set up large plants for EV vehicles and removable batteries.
  • Toyota has been invited to set up a plant in Pithampur.
  • A plan to develop an EV cluster is underway.
  • Recently a big automobile company has come to Pithampur with an investment of Rs 600 crore.
